Through the Local Implementation Plan process, Transport for London awarded WestTrans £1.35m for the development of the schemes shown below. This sum has been supplemented with additional funding from TfL for Travel Planning and for Freight related projects.

BUS PRIORITY

  • Wembley - Park Royal Bus Priority Schemes

A series of bus priority works along the Wembley – Park Royal Corridor. Initial works are centred on the completion of bus priority schemes at the Rainsford Road/Twyford Abbey Road junction and at the Abbey Road roundabout. 

TOWN CENTRES

  • Wembley Town Centre

Continuation of improvements made in the town centre in 2006-07, focusing on footway and streetscape improvements between Wembley Central Station and Napier Road.

STATION ACCESS

  • Step 2 Scheme Development - Hanwell & Castle Bar Park Station
  • Step 2 Scheme Development – Ruislip Station
  • Step 2 Scheme Development – Eastcote Station

A number of Step 1 and Step 2 schemes are currently being developed in West London as part of TfL’s Area Based Scheme programme. The Step 2 schemes are at an advanced stage and propose improvements include; footway widening, reduction of street clutter, pedestrian crossing improvements, introduction of tactile paving and dropped-kerbs and improved street lighting.

LOCAL AREA ACCESSIBILITY

  • Grand Union Canal Access Improvements

Improvements are being made to replace stepped canal access points in West London with DDA compliant ramps.

WALKING

  • Grand Union Canal Towpath Upgrade

The Grand Union Canal is becoming an increasingly popular route for walkers, cyclists, joggers and anglers. Improvements have recently been made to the towpaths along several sections of the canal in West London, including Park Royal and Perivale. This work will supplement improvements that have already been made in the Park Royal area to improve the accessibility, safety and attractiveness of the canal towpath.

Travel Planning activities in West London are coordinated by two full-time Travel Planners, and further details of initiatives, events and good practice can be found on the West London Travel Planning website (link to be provided).
