We are recruiting a West London Student Cycling Champion
Full time (35 hours per week) - £31, 067 (LCC Grade 30)
16-month fixed term contract (or secondment) starting 1 May 2016
This is an exciting role that will lead on a 16-month project to get more students cycling in West London.It's an important time for cycling in London with unprecedented levels of investment in infrastructure and a growing appetite for cycling amongst Londoners. This rewarding role will take the lead on a project that is a partnership between London Cycling Campaign and the WestTrans Partnership. This role will champion active travel, with a focus on cycling, at universities and colleges by setting up and managing projects and events.The London Cycling Campaign is looking for an experienced person who has championed cycling and promoted active travel to the public. You should be highly organised, have shown that you can work under your own initiative and worked on collaborative public engagement events involving several stakeholders. This role will spend much of the week engaging with and working at target institutions - the rest of the time will be spent at London Cycling Campaign's offices in SE1 or WestTrans offices in Ealing.
Main Purpose of the Role
This role will champion active travel, with a focus on cycling at universities and colleges in west London. Travel behaviour change initiatives to encourage cycling at Higher Education (HE) / Further Education (FE) sites remain under developed area, but there is great potential for success. Whilst these sites are key trip generators, they lack dedicated resource, budget and provision by the local boroughs and TfL for active travel initiatives.
This role will address this by bringing some focus to the strategy for students and make better use of other initiatives funded by TfL and others. It will join up and coordinate bids for new activities with existing plans and projects.This role will spend much of the week out of the office working at the target institutions - the rest of the time will be spent at London Cycling Campaign's offices in SE1 or the WestTrans Office in Ealing. A Brompton bike will be provided for use on this project.WestTrans covers the London boroughs of Brent, Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham, Harrow, Hillingdon and Hounslow.
